Hogs and Logs Team Triathlon
Saturday, November 5 ยท 10:00am – 1:00pm
Constitution Square State Historic Site
Danville, KY
A great part of the Kentucky State BBQ Festival!
LIKE TO EAT?
LIKE BBQ?
LIKE RUNNING?
LIKE SWIMMING?
LIKE BIKING?
What about all of the above at the same event?
In conjunction with the 1st Annual KY BBQ Festival later that same day, we will be having a “Doughman” style race in Danville.
These team relay triathlons involve several legs of eating and then running/biking/swimming your way to a BBQ-flavored victory. What’s not to love about eating and then immediately exercising?
So with the pork being pulled later that day at Constitution Square, we will be racing for glory around Danville, hitting some of Danville’s iconic eateries. We got the tasty hogs at the historic logs of Kentucky’s birthplace…
So get your 4 person triathlon team together and GET HOG TRI’D!

When: Nov 5th, 2011. 10AM race start time.
Where: Start and finish will be Constitution Square Historic Site. The race will loop around the City of Danville.
What: The race will consist of four individual legs and one final “dessert” team leg. Each leg will vary on distance and activity. You will need to assign one team member per leg–strategize!
Also:
THIS IS AN OPEN ROAD RACE, SO YOU WILL BE ON YOUR OWN. No street closures. We will have race volunteers monitoring your progress, but you are on your own and expected to be mindful of all traffic laws/rules while running/biking.
Why: Because with this much BBQ goodness hitting Danville with the KY BBQ Festival, we need to be calorically ready!
Cost: Early sign up fee is $80 per team ($20 a person) After October 15th, the price is $100 per team ($25 a person).
Who: The folks at the KY BBQ Festival and the Danville/Boyle CVB are hosting this race. For more details or to sign up, contact

THIS RACE WILL HAVE A FIRST YEAR LIMITED FIELD OF 30 teams, so act quickly.
Leg#1 Wings Give You Wings
After a dozen of Lucky Dog‘s chicken wings, you are off and running just under 3 miles to the Wellness Center. This leg goes through Millennium Park and the Fairgrounds.

Leg#2 Sink or Swim
After wolfing down something tasty from the HUB at the Wellness Center, sprint through the back door for a two lap swim (with floatie) and then run back downtown along 150. (around 2.3 miles). End at Melton’s. How will you handle the run/swim/run transition?

Leg#3 Club To The Gut
Who’s your daddy? The Big Daddy Club at Melton’s awaits this team member–plenty to power them through a ten mile bike loop out Bluegrass Pike. Finish at 303W.

Leg#4 Veg Out
303W will have a healthy vegetarian option (veggie burger) for you at this stop with nice sides. Will it stick to your ribs as you then run the Volksmarch 5K route around the historic downtown? Finish at the Courthouse where your team will be waiting for dessert.

Leg#5 Twisted Team Finish
One cupcake a piece from the Twisted Sifter for each finisher and then a short sprint to the finish line at Constitution Square. There will be a surprise but tasty element to the finish for one or all of your team members, so be prepared for a saucy slide and wild finish.
Complete leg details will be online soon, so stay tuned for downloadable PDFs.
We hope to see everyone for the KY BBQ FESTIVAL and the Hogs & Logs Triathlon!
GET HOG TRI’D!

we are a cooking team from owensboro, ky looking for some cooking competion.. whats the rules for cooking in danville… can we enter?
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your interest in the Kentucky State BBQ Festival. At this time, we don’t have a competition. This is purely an eating festival and features celebrity pitmasters doing something they don’t always get a chance to do – feeding championship BBQ to all comers.
